In my review of existing literature, I will explore:

- Teacher transparency and the methods that are most commonly associated with transparent teaching. Transparency, however, is typically only connected to teacher actions, behaviors, and processes in the classroom.
- How to create an environment that makes space for students' feelings of autonomy and belonging, and how these feelings might change in response to a shift in teaching style.
- To gain a better understanding of how other educators, students and classrooms are influenced by a more open, clear approach to teaching, I also explored different aspects of democratic education. In my view, democratic education generally describes the learning environment that can come about as a result of transparent teaching.
